Bed Bug Control in Punjab

Bed bugs don't come from dirt — they arrive in a suitcase, a second-hand bed or a hostel mattress, and then settle into the joints of your own bed. Getting rid of khatmal in a Punjab home, PG or hotel takes a careful treatment and a follow-up, and we plan both with you.

What to know

Bed bugs are hitchhikers, and Punjab moves a lot. Students shift between PGs and hostels around colleges and coaching centres, workers come and go, families travel by overnight bus and train, and relatives visit from abroad with suitcases that have passed through hotel rooms on the way. A few bugs or eggs in the seam of a bag or a used sofa are enough to start an infestation in a perfectly clean home.

Once inside, they live close to where people sleep: mattress seams and piping, bed frames and headboards, the joints of a wooden double bed or the woven frame of a charpai, sofa cushions, the backs of switchboards and plaster cracks near the bed. They feed at night and hide by day, so many people notice the bites long before they see a bug. Bed bugs like warmth, but they don't disappear in winter — heavy razais, closed windows and heated rooms keep them comfortable through the cold months.

The hard part is the eggs. They are tiny and glued into crevices, some can survive the first treatment, and new bugs hatch afterwards. Bed bugs can also go a long time without feeding, so an empty room isn't a cure. That is why the treatment is planned as a first round plus a follow-up, and why what you do with bedding and clutter between the two matters as much as the treatment itself.

Signs you need bed bug control

  • Itchy red bites in a line or cluster on the arms, neck or legs, noticed in the morning
  • Small rust-red or dark spots on sheets, pillow covers and mattress seams
  • Tiny dark dots in the corners of the mattress, bed joints or sofa seams
  • Pale, empty shells left behind by bugs shedding their skin
  • Flat brown bugs, about the size of an apple seed, in the cracks of the bed frame or charpai
  • A sweetish, musty smell in a room with a heavy infestation

Before the technician arrives

  • Strip the beds and wash sheets, pillow covers and curtains in hot water; dry them in strong sun or on high heat
  • Empty drawers and the space under the bed, and keep the items in sealed bags — not in another bedroom
  • Vacuum the mattress, bed frame and floor, then seal the dust and throw it away outside
  • Stand mattresses and sofa cushions where the technician can reach the seams
  • Don't move beds or bedding to another room before the visit — it spreads the bugs
  • Tell the technician which rooms people sleep in, including guest rooms and PG rooms

How The Treatment Is Done

Step by step
  1. 1
    Checklist, then inspection

You get a preparation checklist before the visit. On the day, the technician checks beds, mattresses, sofas, cupboards and nearby cracks to see how far the bugs have spread.

  2. 2
    Beds and mattresses

Mattress seams, piping and frames, bed joints and headboards are treated, along with the cracks and joints around the bed.

  3. 3
    Sofas, chairs and cupboards

Sofas, chairs, cushions and cupboards near the sleeping area are treated where there is activity. Mattress & Furniture Treatment can also be booked for furniture on its own.

  4. 4
    Bedding and laundry advice

You are told how to handle sheets, covers and clothes so the bugs aren't carried from one room to another.

  5. 5
    Follow-up treatment

Because some eggs survive the first round, a follow-up treatment is scheduled with you so newly hatched bugs are treated before they can lay eggs of their own.

Bed Bug Control — Questions

Asked before booking
Will one treatment finish the khatmal?

Usually not. Eggs are hard to reach and some survive the first round, so bed bug treatment includes a follow-up, which the technician schedules with you.

Should I throw away my mattress?

Not necessarily — most mattresses and sofas can be treated. If a mattress is badly torn or the bugs are living inside it, the technician will tell you plainly so you can decide.

We run a PG. Should all the rooms be done together?

That is the better way, because bed bugs move from room to room. For hostels and other institutions there is also School, Hospital & Institution Pest Control, planned around your timings.

Can we sleep in the room the same night?

The technician tells you how long to keep the room empty and aired, and how to put the bedding back. Keep children and pets out until then.

How will I know the bed bugs are gone?

No new bites, no fresh spots on the sheets and no live bugs at the follow-up. Keep checking mattress seams for a few weeks, and let us know if the signs return.

Can I book just one room?

Yes, Bed Bug Treatment is booked per room. Because bed bugs travel, the technician may suggest checking the rooms next to it, and will tell you the price before any extra work.
